The University of Bergen (UiB) node is a cellular and molecular neuroscience unit with Clive Bramham and Espen Hartveit as local coordinators. Bramham is head of the Neuroscience Research Group in the Department of Biomedicine. His research focuses on the molecular control of synaptic plasticity, including regulation of synaptic protein expression and activity. Hartveit is head of the Neural Networks Research Group in the Department of Biomedicine. His research focuses on operational dynamics and signal processing in neural microcircuits for visual processing in the retina. Brain research, including molecular neurobiology, genetics and cognitive neuroscience, is a priority topic for UiB that interlinks leading research groups in the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Psychology.
